Last week the Nelson Street Tenants Association (NTA) stood outside a rec centre talking to the people about their impending demoviction. It just so happens that the company that owns their building, Intracorp, had set up an open house on that same day. While Intracorp was trying to sell their development ideas to the public, the NTA showed their feelings on the matter: That the development represents displacement for vulnerable tenants.

One impressive aspect of this, is the turn-around time on this action. Intracorp’s open house was advertised about a week before, and the NTA saw that opportunity and got members on board and on message in less than that time. They even had a well put together info board about their situation made up to look like the kind that Intracorp would have at their open house!
